Match 56 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium saw a controversy erupt after Sanju Samson was given out in the 15.4 over. Chasing 222 runs posted by DC, RR skipper Sanju Samson had to come in early after three early wickets fell. He stayed glued to the crease and scored 86 off 46, which included 8 fours and 6 maximums.

However, he was looking to accelerate further, but his run was stopped by a catch from Shai Hope at the boundary. This is where the issue arose, as Hope was seen trying to find his foot near the rope. It was reviewed by the 3rd umpire, who viewed the footage from multiple angles and made the decision to give the RR skipper out. Even the DC owner was seen screaming from the stands that Sanju "out hain".

However, this has not gone down well with fans online, as many took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to state that it was Not Out and the decision was incorrect. Even coach Kumar Sangakkara was seen talking to Samson, saying the foot touched the boundary rope.

As for the clash, Yashasvi Jaiswal departed cheaply for 4 of 2, while Jos Buttler was bowled for 19 off 17. Riyan Parag tried to get things in motion but lost his wicket for 27 off 22, and later Samson walked back for 86, followed by Shubham Dubey, who had to walk back for 25 off 12. Donovan Ferreira did not do much as he was dismissed for 1 off 3 and R Ashwin followed in the same over for 2 off 3.

Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets each, while Axar Patel, and Rasikh Dar Salam each took one wicket.
