Kangana Ranaut is all set to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh on behalf of the Bhartiya Janta Party. The Saffron Party recently unveiled its fifth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, nominating Kangana, a vocal supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to represent her hometown. Born in Bhambla near Manali, situated in the Mandi district, the actress is set to run for the office from her birthplace.

At a recently concluded event by Times Now, the actress opened up about her films not doing well and also spoke about superstar Shah Rukh Khan. She was asked if she's decided to enter the world of politics because of the fact that her last few films didn't do well at the box office. She replied saying, “Poore world mein aisa koi nahi hai. Shah Rukh Khan ki 10 films nahi chali, phir Pathaan chali. Meri 7-8 saal koi film nahi chali, phir Queen chali, phir 3-4 saal baad Manikarnika chali. Now Emergency is releasing next, you never know maybe it will work wonders at the box office.”

Kangana added that she and Shah Rukh are the last generation of stars as OTT cannot make stars. She further said that they are known faces and by the grace of God, they are very much in demand.

Kangana Ranaut has experienced a string of disappointments at the box office. Her last few films, including Tejas, Dhaakad and Thalaivii failed to garner significant praise from both audiences and critics alike.

Recently Kangana was also mired in a political controversy. She faced verbal attacks from Congress members. When she raised her concerns about their harsh and unjust remarks at the event, she was questioned about her similar comments regarding Urmila Matondkar where she had called her a soft porn actor which was criticized by Urmila's fans.
