Actor Nani is all set to join forces with director TJ Gnanavel, who is currently busy helming Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming movie, "Vettaiyan". According to industry buzz, Gnanavel has planned to start his next movie with Nani immediately after completing "Vettaiyan".

It seems that Nani and Gnanavel have been in talks for a while now. It's noteworthy that Nani had expressed disappointment when Gnanavel's critically acclaimed movie, "Jai Bhim", was snubbed at the National Awards.

For the uninitiated, many popular Tamil movies were snubbed at the 69th National Film Awards, including "Jai Bhim", "Sarpatta Parambarai", and "Karnan". Many raised questions about the jury, and some also expressed their disappointment. Nani was one among them as he took to his social media and shared a broken-heart emoji along with #JaiBhim.

All the movies that were overlooked by the jury shared one common narrative thread: all these films talked about the ugly side of casteist practices. "Jai Bhim", in particular, created a massive wave across the country for its strong commentary on how caste biases influence the procedures in the criminal justice system, wreaking innocent lives.

"Jai Bhim" was released directly on streaming in 2021 owing to the pandemic and became a huge critical hit. Tamil superstar Suriya also garnered a lot of praise for his performance and courage to take on such a firebrand role.

In the meantime, Gnanavel is shooting for "Vettaiyan" non-stop. The film went on floors earlier this year, and the filmmaker has already shot with Rajinikanth for more than 100 days now. The production is believed to be in its final leg and is expected to hit screens worldwide in October.

"Vettaiyan" has created a lot of enthusiasm among cinephiles as it marks the big-screen reunion of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan after more than three decades. The film also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan.
