    It's official! Mohanlal’s most-awaited debut directorial venture Barozz has locked its release date! The upcoming Malayalam movie is slated to have a grand theatrical release on September 12, coinciding with the Kerala festival of Onam. The exciting update was unveiled by superstar Mohanlal himself, who took to his X handle to share the news with an interesting poster.

    The new release date poster features Mohanlal in a Victorian-era costume and is seen preparing a loaf of bread. He is also seen with a little girl who appears to be of Portuguese descent. The vibrant new poster exudes beautiful period fantasy vibes with the Mollywood superstar playing the titular character of Barroz, the protector of Vasco da Gama’s treasure for more than four centuries. With the film being a fantasy period drama, the latest poster piques the curiosity among fans who are keen to know what the Malayalam superstar has in store for us!

    Helmed by Mohanlal in his directorial debut, the upcoming period fantasy film is written by Kalavoor Ravikumar and Krishnadas Panki and is based on the novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure by writer Jijo Punnoose. The plot revolves around Barroz, who has been tasked with protecting Vasco da Gama’s hidden treasure for more than four centuries. His only duty is to safeguard the wealth until it is passed on to a true descendant of Vasco da Gama.  

    The actor-turned-director had earlier dropped an interesting promo of the film which featured an animated shot that dropped hints about Mohanlal's mysterious role in the movie. Touted to be a children’s fantasy drama, Barroz promises to deliver a captivating visual experience and is slated for release in 3D format. The movie is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and stars Maya, Sara Vega, Tuhin Menon, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta and Guru Somasundaram in key roles.
