Siddharth Anand ropes in Milan Luthria for action entertainer Nayak 2, deets inside!

    Milan Luthria, who has previously helmed several memorable commercial films such as Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, The Dirty Picture, and Taxi Number 9211 among others, is now set to direct Nayak 2. Notably, the sequel to the 2001 hit film Nayak, written by Rajat Arora, marks a reunion for the duo. 

    Back in 2001, Shankar and Anil Kapoor collaborated for the first time on the political action entertainer, which has since attained a cult status among audiences. The film remains one of the most frequently watched movies on television and has endured the test of time. 

    Now, 23 years later, a sequel to Nayak is currently in development. Sources close to the project indicated to Pinkvilla that Siddharth Anand has roped in Milan Luthria to direct Nayak 2.

    A source was quoted as saying by the publication, “Nayak 2 will be produced by Siddharth and Mamta Anand under their banner, Marflix Pictures. Much like the original film, this one too is a big-scale commercial entertainer set against the backdrop of politics and will be directed by Milan Luthria." The source further informed, "The makers have cracked a plot that organically leads itself towards Nayak sequel and has a strong undercurrent of being a vigilante flick.” 

    The source added, “Siddarth Anand has got back the writer-director jodi of Milan and Rajat together for Nayak 2 and he is excited to embark on the journey of making a one of its kind vigilante-based action entertainer." 

    The report also informs that apart from all the action sequences, the sequel will be heavy on dialoguebaazi and drama. Currently, the fiilm's casting is in process and a top A-lister is likely to headline the film. However, it hasn't been confirmed whether Anil Kapoor will reprise his role in the sequel to the film.
