Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma
While it was known that the outcome of this match could change a lot of things on the points table, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) seemed to be unfazed as they went on to demolish the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 57 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The SRH batters went on a rampage and chased down the below-par total of 166 runs, as per IPL standards.

No LSG bowler could take a wicket, with all five bowlers leaking runs. This was not what they must have expected, especially after the visitors had won the toss and opted to bat first. With this result, Mumbai Indians (MI) have been eliminated from the Playoffs race.

Earlier, the 99-run partnership between Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran helped LSG post 165 runs on the board. The Super Giants were reeling at 66/4 in 11.2 overs when the pair got together and showed intent right from the start. Badoni scored a fine 55 off 30 balls, smashing 9 fours, while his partner Pooran scored 48 off 26 with 6 fours and 1 maximum, especially when the team was under pressure.

Wanting to bat first, captain KL Rahul found it difficult to get going and ended up scoring only 29 off 33. Meanwhile, looking terrific, Krunal Pandya struck 24 off 21 before getting out. But the Lucknow team's other hitters disappointed them down, as Marcus Stoinis (3 off 5) and Quinton de Kock (2 off 5) left cheaply. Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed two wickets for the home team, captain Pat Cummins took one, and the outstanding SRH captain ran out one batsman.
