Before its Season 4 comeback later this year, Apple TV+ has confirmed the renewal of the spy thriller comedy Slow Horses for a fifth season, as reported by Variety. The announcement follows closely on the heels of the conclusion of the six-episode third season led by Gary Oldman. Season 5 of Slow Horses will draw inspiration from the fifth installment of Mick Herron's spy series, titled London Rules.

Slow Horses unfolds as a darkly comedic espionage drama, tracing the misadventures of a dysfunctional group of British intelligence agents stationed in the less-than-prestigious "Slough House" department of MI5. The series stars Gary Oldman, alongside a stellar cast including Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Dustin Demri-Burns, Christopher Chung, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan, and Jonathan Pryce.

Penned and executive produced by Will Smith (Veep), with direction by Saul Metzstein, "Slow Horses" is a creation that boasts a talented team behind the scenes. The executive producers include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Jane Robertson, and Graham Yost. The series is produced under the banner of See-Saw Films.

    Unraveling Intrigue

In Season 5, the storyline unfolds with a touch of suspicion as the team becomes wary of Roddy Ho's newfound glamorous relationship. As a sequence of increasingly peculiar events unfolds throughout the city, the Slow Horses find themselves at the center of the investigation to decipher the intricate connections.

The logline for Season 5 emphasizes Jackson Lamb's understanding that in the realm of espionage, the steadfast application of London Rules is imperative. Meanwhile, the upcoming fourth season of the show is expected to stream in the spring of 2024.
